Since the College’s founding in 1823, MCPHS has been on the cutting edge of innovation in health care education. This College is one of the few private, free-standing colleges in the United States specializing in the education of health professionals and has prepared more students for professional careers in pharmacy than any other academic institution in the world. MCPHS’s Boston campus is located in the Longwood Medical and Academic Area. It is adjacent to The Massachusetts College of Art and Design and Harvard Medical School, as well as many renowned health care institutions, such as Children's Hospital Boston, The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham and Women's Hospital and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. In addition to outstanding academic opportunities, MCPHS has a vibrant international student community with more than 500 international students from 50 countries. For students who need intensive English, the MCPHS English Language Academy provides students with a culturally sensitive, supportive environment in which to build English language proficiency and academic skills needed for success in health studies, including full-immersion programs.
