In its 30th year, Class Afloat - West Island College International is one of the the world's most unique and highly specialised international boarding schools. Our students study an accredited academic programme of High School, GAP year or University courses while sailing a majestic tall ship to 20 ports on 3 continents. Class Afloat faculty teach to the highest standards of academic excellence and our students explore new cultures and perform community service in the ports they visit, developing as leaders and global citizens. Our community is made up of 50% Canadian students and students from 12 other nationalities, forming a caring environment where values and ethics coalesce into a living definition of responsible global citizenship. Students ages 16-19 may embark on their journey of self-discovery in 11th grade, 12th grade or for a GAP/University program. Our school is based in Canada and offers a fully accredited Nova Scotia provincial high school curriculum. Class Afloat has partnered with top-ranked Acadia University for our GAP-year academic program. Students join Class Afloat from all over the world and credits at both the high school and university level are eligible for transfer to home schools.
