As the leader in Southern Maryland independent college preparatory schools, The Calverton School is committed to maximizing student potential and preparing students for global citizenship. Our residential program provides individualized attention to each student's academic and personal growth. Founded in 1967, Calverton is located just south of Washington, DC, bordered by the Chesapeake Bay in a country setting ideal for student safety and cultural development. Our 150+ acre campus includes spaces for outdoor classroom, field studies, and a large sports complex. Residential housing is a cluster of brand-new "homes" on campus, purposely designed in 2013 to provide a comfortable family-style environment to support student success. House Parents and faculty RA’s arrange an array of activities including NBA and MLB games, regular visits to DC attractions, along with school and local events. Calverton's dedicated educators provide more than 10 AP courses, along with the International Baccalaureate Programme for 140 students in the Upper School. While students are challenged to master the core academic disciplines, Calverton also aims to help students develop vital 21st-century skills: teamwork and collaboration, creativity, technology, research and inquiry, communication, problem solving, and leadership. Calverton faculty is readily accessible to meet with students and provides consistent communication with families. 100% of Calverton’s residential graduates have matriculated to American universities, including UVA, Drexel, and RPI.
