1. We are the first college in the nation to base our curriculum on a framework of sustainability science.

We offer 16 environmentally focused majors, each built upon a unique framework of sustainability science. Our transdisciplinary approach provides students with a distinctive education that meets the demands of an earth and environment in crisis.

2. Our unique location provides extraordinary opportunities for research and adventure.

Unity sits in the middle of three climate zones, providing special opportunities for experiential learning and original research. Our unique location is also a great jumping-off point for outdoor activities—there’s hiking, camping, skiing, hunting, canoeing, and more all within easy access from campus.

3. Our 12:1 student-faculty ratio means high-touch, hands-on learning.

Unity College’s low student-to-faculty ratio means students won’t get lost in the crowd. At Unity, professors know their students’ names. Students benefit from passionate, dedicated faculty who encourage a high degree of student involvement—leading to an individualized, supportive, and hands-on learning experience.

4. We offer a close-knit community with a variety of extracurricular activities.

Nearly 72% of Unity students live on campus as part of our unified and inclusive community. In addition, we have over 30 active and unique clubs, such as Beekeeping, Primitive Skills, Sugar Makers, and Wildlife Care and Education. We also offer both varsity and intramural sports—varsity teams include women’s and men’s basketball, soccer, and cross-country, and women’s volleyball.

5. We were the first college in the nation to divest from fossil fuels.

Unity College is committed to the sustainability of our environment and understands the pressing need to address global climate change. That’s why in 2012, we became the first college in the United States to divest from fossil fuels, leading what has become a national movement in higher education.

6. Our campus housing is at the forefront of energy-saving efforts.

Student housing at Unity includes three new residence halls that meets LEED silver standards.

7. Our tuition rates are nearly 18% below the national average.

The total direct cost of tuition, fees, and room and board at Unity College for the 2017/18 academic year is $38,750. However, Unity College offers financial assistance for more than 90% of our students, including scholarships of up to $13,000 per year.

8. We provide one-on-one career counseling from day one.

At Unity College, we focus on our students’ personal fulfillment and professional success, both during their time at Unity and beyond. Our dedicated career services staff works hard to help students and alumni realize their career goals, providing one-on-one career counseling from day one of freshman year and on.

9. Our practical, valuable education and student experience yield a high return on investment.

In 2014, over 75% of Unity College seniors participated in some form of practicum, internship, field experience, co-op, or clinical assignment. And every year, Unity is host to the largest Environmental Career Fair in New England. According to a recent 2016 survey, 92% of alumni who responded were employed full-time or pursuing graduate degrees.

10. We are a highly respected, award-winning institution of higher learning.

In 2016, U.S. News & World Report ranked Unity College 15th best liberal arts college in the North, and No. 6 position this year in the “Best Value” category among its peers. Unity College was listed among the Top 10 colleges nationally in two important categories -- No. 10 for Food and No. 5 for Academics -- in Sierra magazine’s recent list of “Cool Schools.” Unity College was named a College of Distinction in 2012–13, 2013–14, 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17 school years. And in 2011, the Washington Monthly ranked Unity among the top 20 baccalaureate colleges in the nation. We have been on the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll and are included in the Princeton Review’s guide to green colleges. Also in 2016, Unity College was ranked as one of the most affordable small sustainable colleges.
