Wellington Institute of Technology is a public tertiary institute established and funded by the New Zealand Government. WelTec is the key regional provider of vocational education in New Zealand's capital city, Wellington, with around 10,000 students each year at its three campuses - two in Wellington City and the third in Petone, 12 minutes from the city. WelTec offers 150 vocational and applied qualifications from certificates and diplomas to degree and graduate diploma programmes. The programme levels allow for staged pathways through the qualifications and range from Level 4 to Level 7 on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework. WelTec also offers pathway programmes in English language and academic study for those who need preparation for their area of study. International students can enrol directly from high school or after completing professional qualifications or work experience in their home countries. WelTec's speciality is its special links to local business and industry. This ensures courses and qualifications are current and relevant to business and employment needs. Many of our students have gone on to exciting employment opportunities after finishing their studies.
