The Texas International Education Consortium (TIEC) is a non-profit corporation that provides services based on the resources of one of the largest and most highly regarded systems of public higher education in the United States - 32 public universities in the State of Texas. The presidents of TIEC's participating universities sit on the Board of Directors, providing vital support to TIEC projects. The Texas Intensive English Program (TIEP), established in 1965, is a program of TIEC. TIEP is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA) and offers English programs for Academic Purposes and for Communication and Culture. TIEP instructors are highly-trained and experienced professionals with master's or Ph.D. degrees. More than 30,000 students and professionals from 127 countries have learned English at TIEP. TIEP services include conditional admission and TOEFL waiver to Texas universities, visa counseling, housing assistance, field trips, and social and cultural activities. TIEP is located in Austin, the Capital of Texas, known internationally for its excellent universities and student-friendly atmosphere, global high-tech industries, abundant recreational and cultural activities, scenic beauty, and year-round mild weather. TIEP at Lamar is a new branch of TIEP at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. TIEP at Lamar is accredited by CEA and will begin issuing I-20s in 2013.
