The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts (NYCDA) is located in New York City and accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre. NYCDA offers a 2-year Associate in Occupational Studies in film and television performance, a 3rd-year theater program, and an intensive 4-week summer program. Acting is both an art and a business, and we train students extensively in both. Our acting training is built on the Meisner approach and includes the practical skills they need to succeed such as resumes, auditions, on-set etiquette, and interaction with the camera. One of the largest independent casting facilities on the East Coast is located in our building where many NYCDA students are exposed to casting directors through coursework and internships. In addition, all of NYCDA’s teachers are working professionals who bring their insights and industry knowledge into the classroom every day. No previous acting experience is required for admission, but candidates must audition for acceptance. NYCDA has articulation agreements with several universities throughout the United States, and qualified graduates may be able to pursue a BA with transferrable credits from NYCDA. Institutional scholarships may be granted to international students based on merit and talent.
