The Halton District School Board is among the largest boards in Ontario, serving more than 60,000 students spread out between 105 elementary and secondary schools. Our goal is to ensure every student achieves his or her success, and our 2012-16 Multi-Year Plan lays out the ways in which we will do that. The Halton District School Board now offers over 70 regional programs geared to better meet individual needs, helping more students succeed in their chosen pathway after high school, whether they are pursuing apprenticeship, college, community, university or the workplace. Halton students again show excellence in all provincial comparisons of student achievement. Our reading and writing scores in Grades 3 and 6 continue to improve and maintain a high ranking in comparison to other boards of education. Our secondary Math results are nothing short of amazing: 90% of our students taking Academic Math. When you consider 82% of Halton students take the Academic Math (compared to 70% provincially), that means 85% of our students are at a B or higher grade in the Mathematics course of their choice. The Halton District School Board believes all students can learn, therefore the Board’s improvement planning at the school and system level focuses on personalization, precision and professional learning to ensure the Board is meeting the needs of every student.
